Our Hospital: On Point Veterinary Services is privately owned and based in Hamilton, MT focusing on canine-centric care. That’s right! Dogs ONLY! 

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR :) We are looking to expand our team by adding another Veterinary Technician Assistant (VTA) as well as a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT).  We practice quality, compassionate, modern medicine in a low stress environment. We have no on-call hours, no weekend hours, are closed holidays and offer a 4 day work week. Some Of What You’ll Be Working On:

  • Assisting veterinarians and visiting orthopedic surgeons with exams, vaccinations, treatments, surgery, dentistry, hospitalized patients and animal restraint
  • Performing laser therapy on rehab patients and performing rehab exercises as directed by a veterinarian
  • Venipuncture, and IV catheter placement
  • Surgical sterile prep and endotracheal tube placement and administration of anesthetics or sedatives under the direction of a veterinarian and monitoring of anesthesia (LVTs)
  • Dental cleaning and dental x-rays (LVTs)
  • Capture clinically diagnostic x-ray images
  • Pharmacy medication filling
  • Obtaining and maintaining patient medical information
  • Building and maintaining client relationships including guiding owners through hospital and surgical discharges
  • Maintaining a high level of client communication and patient care - verbal and written
  • Help research and develop protocols that allow us to gain AAHA certification.
  • Cleaning and maintenance of medical equipment as well as the hospital
  • Be on the cutting edge of medicine! Our hospital is participating in an FDA study looking at reducing the rate/severity of aging in dogs.

Qualifications:

  • Certified/Licensed Veterinary Technician:
    • Actively licensed in Montana or has the immediate ability to become licensed. We strive to empower our technicians and assistants to work to the highest levels of their education.
    • Minimum of two years’ experience with direct patient care/surgical/anesthesia care experience
    • Strong comfort level with venipuncture, IV catheter placement, endotracheal tube placement and ability to monitor and adjust anesthesia with little oversight.
    • Strong knowledge of surgical equipment, care and aseptic technique.
    • Demonstrated passion for patient care and client service
  • Veterinary Technician Assistant:
    • Highschool diploma or equivalent, but advanced degrees appreciated.
    • Background in animal care (yes caring for your own menagerie of pets counts!)
    • Ability to multi-task and take verbal instructions.
    • Attention to DETAIL
    • We'll provide training in regard to patient care and encourage our VTAs to pursue sitting for the licensed board exam once they're ready!
  • Requirements of BOTH positions:
    • Ability to ask for help and deal with change. We are always striving to improve our practice. We like change!
    • This is a physcial job. Must be comfortable kneeling, bending and able to lift 40 lbs.
    • Punctual and Reliable.  We round at 8:30 am and our last appointment is at 4:30 pm. 
    • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
    • Strong comfort level with electronic media/typing.  We use electronic medical note keeping systems and strive to be paper light. 
    • Team player with the ability to work together and independently to meet goals and objectives
    • Strong commitment to ethics and integrity
    • Must be willing to follow all AAHA, local, state and CDC guidelines in regards to personal protective gear and best practices.

  • Experienced certified technicians start at $24-26/hr (DOE). Veterinary Technician Assistants $16-$18.50/hr (DOE)
