ER Veterinary Technician

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Emergency Technician to join our dynamic veterinary team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care for animals in emergency situations. This position requires a strong background in animal handling and veterinary practices, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Hours are 5:30pm-7:30am Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarian in emergency procedures and treatments.
• Perform initial assessments of animals upon arrival, including vital signs and medical history.
• Administer medications and treatments as directed by the veterinary staff.
• Prepare animals for surgery, including proper restraint and catheterization.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to aseptic techniques.
• Handle and care for animals with compassion, ensuring their comfort during treatment.
• Operate laboratory equipment for diagnostic testing and assist with X-rays when necessary.
• Document patient information accurately in medical records.

Skills

• Strong knowledge of animal anatomy, physiology, and husbandry practices.
• Proficiency in veterinary terminology and critical care procedures.
• Experience with dog handling, animal restraint, and catheterization techniques.
• Familiarity with laboratory processes and equipment used in veterinary medicine.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
